Which jewellery suits me?

Jewellery is something that exists in every culture in the world. No matter what continent, all peoples have some kind of jewellery or another. Apparently, nature has left us something in our genes that makes us take pleasure in it.

Why jewellery will always be trendy

Clothing is something we wear out of necessity. Jewellery, on the other hand, we use voluntarily. It is purely a stylistic device. Nevertheless, its functions are manifold:

People have been wearing jewellery for thousands of years. For women, for example, it is an option to increase their attractiveness. Just like make-up. The ladies of the world have discovered that some objects exert a magical attraction on the opposite sex. Creoles, for example, seem to be much more effective than simple button earrings. Even statistics have found this to be the case. In earlier times, attractiveness was one of the few ways for a woman to lift herself out of poverty. Therefore, they perfected such little tricks.

For others, jewellery is a symbol to signify their status in society. Gold in abundance, something only high-ranking people and rich people could afford in the past. With it, they deliberately tried to distinguish themselves from others or to demonstrate their power.

Furthermore, they are sometimes used to symbolise belonging to a group. For example, different indigenous tribes wear the same jewellery so that they can distinguish themselves and their fellow citizens from other tribes. Another example: In the Gothic scene, people wear rings and necklaces with certain motifs. They serve to recognise like-minded people. Studies show that people who are visually recognised as like-minded are generally much more trusting. Even if they are strangers.

What kind of jewellery should I wear?

Of course, this depends on gender and age. There is not really a general rule. Everyone should wear what he or she likes. However, there are some basic rules that you should follow so that everything looks really tasteful:

For example, there is the principle that you should not use different materials. Chains made of gold and rings made of silver don’t go together. In this case, it is better to get a collection made of one material and the other. And then it is best to alternate every now and then.

If you don’t know what looks good or is in fashion at the moment, you should take a look at a fashion magazine. There are always photos of the latest models. There is only one thing you should keep in mind. There is timeless jewellery and there are fashionable ones. Pearl earrings are discreet, which makes them timeless. Chain earrings, on the other hand, have become very popular in recent years. Before that, it was mainly rectangular creoles. It’s relatively likely that you’ll wear them a few times and then they’ll be out of fashion. It would be a pity for the money.
